About Us
Crisp mountain air, fragrant balsams, and wild pink roses inspired the logo for Balsam Rose Designs. Our handcrafted 100% natural soap is good for your skin. We use two base recipes. Our standard recipe includes extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, unrefined cocoa butter, unrefined shea butter, and avocado oil. We also offer a very moisturizing, castile soap that is 100% olive oil. We infuse oils with plants, herbs,& seeds to create our colors. Aromatherapy grade essential oils include lavender, lemongrass, peppermint, rosemary, and cedarwood, just to name a few. We offer unscented soap to make sure that we have a bar of soap for everyone's personal preference.
We enjoy every step of the soap making process. Each bar of soap is cut from small, carefully made batches.

About Us
Superb summer fruit; heirloom apple varieties; and hard cider.
A local source of the most distinguished, tasty fruit available locally or long-distance. In addition to Black Diamond also produces Black Diamond Cider – a line of craft hard ciders made entirely from apples grown on the farm. During the summer months we also grow cherries, blueberries, apricots, peaches, plums, pears, and grapes.
Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York, the farm in Trumansburg is adjacent to the Black Diamond trail. The area has a long rich history of apple growing. Despite Black Diamonds small size, they are growing some of the most exciting new varieties and many treasured ‘heritage’ apple varieties. Practicing IFP (Integrated Fruit Production), and taking pride in producing high quality fruit selected for excellent and unusual tastes. A small family operation. Ian and Jackie Merwin own the orchard and get the work done with a small, dedicated, and capable crew.
There’s a small section of the orchard devoted to antique French and English apples grown for traditional hard cider blends. They have great names like Brown Snout, Magog Redstreak, Dabinett, etc. Cidermakers, if interested in buying cider varieties please contact the farmers.

About Us
"Our cattle at Boorcrest Farm are raised in a very loving & humane manner employing sustainable agricultural practices on our nearly 400 acre former dairy farm. We currently keep a closed herd, and are growing the business slowly through artificial insemination of our base group of female brood cows. Our bloodlines are crosses of Angus, Hereferd, & Simmental. We utilize rotational pastures & water systems during the summer months, and feed quality haylage and corn silage from December thru April from our upright silos. We grow some row crops for resale , and harvest small square bales of hay which are sold locally. Highly erodible land is currently being taken out of row crops and converted to either additional pasture or hay for the beef.
When you purchase beef from Boorcrest Farm, we will walk you through the process and make it easy! You will be choosing between: a quarter, a side (half), or both sides of a market-ready steer/heifer. We do not have quantities of choice cuts for re-sale from the freezer. The price that you pay Boorcrest will be based on the hanging weight of your order. Boorcrest will pay the basic processing costs, and coordinate the pick-up date. Specialty orders, such as corned beef or smoked meat, can be provided for an additional cost that you negotiate with the butcher. The meat is to be picked up at the butcher’s the day it is cut and wrapped. Our butcher encourages buyers to come to the shop early and ask questions!
The order page (http://boorcrestfarm.com/index.php/place-order/) lists the approximate dates when a particular animal will be market-ready. As soon as deposits are placed, they will be removed from availability from the list. There is a price break for purchasing a full side vs. a quarter to encourage buyers to go in together. If purchasing just a quarter, our butcher will split the choice cuts from both the front and back quarters with equal pounds of meat for each quarter customer. If a quarter is still too much meat, encourage a friend to go in with you!"

About Us
Cross-Patch Farm is located in Freetown N.Y. , where my passion for pigs began as a kid. Farming has been in my blood since my grandparents had a dairy farm, only 1/4 mile from Cross Patch Farm. Back in 1974, my family’s barn burned. Although the barn was no longer, farming was already a part of me. My fascination for pigs began, in the south, when I was a teenager. While living in the south we raised pigs and I had a chance to show pigs thru FFA. I served in the United States Navy for 4 years, raised a family and finally in 2015 I had the means to raise some pigs back here on the homestead. I strive to provide the highest quality pig that gives my customers a product that has the combination of the most meat at market weight with the necessary fat and marbling, while still keeping the length to get the most bacon. We are dedicated to show pigs as well. There is so much excitement tying genetics together to produce a pig that can win in the show ring. My niece Jayden started showing pigs last year and I hope to continue to introduce our younger generations involved in Cortland County and surrounding areas.

About Us
Dennis' Homemade Ice Cream started in the '80s in Elmira on Roe Avenue by Dennis Caso. He started using an old fashioned ice cream maker, you know, the kind which uses rock salt and ice. Well, after getting larger demand, Dennis moved the operation to Corning. He had a good go of it in Corning and started using a high end ice cream making machine. Dennis was also studying holistic healing and took a break to focus on his studies. Upon his return, he began to perform acupuncture, Tai Chi and other similar practices. He missed his ice cream and picked up where he left off, making his move to the Ithaca Farmers market. In 2010, he purchased Decker Pond outside of Ithaca, where he is growing his business. You will still see him at the Farmer's market and in his new place.

About Us
Double E Farms, located in Willseyville, NY, produces shiitake and oyster mushrooms on hardwood logs. The wood they use is selected and cut from over 70 wooded acres using sustainable forestry practices. All mushrooms are cultivated using natural and organic methods. Mushrooms form on cultivated logs as they do naturally and are harvested by hand in the woods where they grow. The hearty flavor of shiitake is prized by chefs and the texture of log grown caps is considered superior. The shelf life of log grown shiitake is about three weeks when kept refrigerated. Current research indicates that shiitake mushrooms are widely beneficial to human health; they help boost the immune system and have anti-viral and anti-cancer properties and shiitakes contain seven of the eight essential amino acids and provide an ideal protein. Mushrooms are available through CSA shares, and at GreenStar Cooperative Market in Ithaca, NY, they are also suppliers to a number of fine restaurants in the region, as well as the Crooked Carrot CSK.

About Us
Early Bird Farm was founded by Ray Sheldrake and his wife, Elsie, in 1959 on Elmira Road. Ray Sheldrake was a noted Extension Horticulturist at Cornell University. He was a pioneer in the development of double poly greenhouses and Cornell peatlite soilless mix. At the time, most growers used frames and hot beds to grow their product. The double poly house helped many growers in the bedding plant industry, who may not have been able to afford expensive glass greenhouses. Ray and his colleagues at Cornell were the first to develop a uniform soil mix that was a mix of peat moss, perlite mix and nutrients needed to grow the crop. Plant losses in production due to disease, poor nutrient management and even insects decreased by 80%. He was also responsible for the many innovations seen in plastic mulches for field vegetables, drip irrigation, soluble plant fertilizers, growing in bags and plant growth regulators (PGRs). Even after retirement, Ray continued to work and became the director of the Sheldrake Research Center, and he was the chief consultant for W.R. Grace & Co., working on soil development and plant nutrition.
In the beginning, Ray and Elsie sold sweet corn and other vegetables that they grew on their farm. Elsie's love of flowers turned into a business venture when she started growing and selling flowering plants in one small greenhouse. As the years progressed, additional greenhouses were erected and there was a boom in flower and vegetable production. Currently there are 10 greenhouses with a combined total of 35,000 square feet of growing space, and a new garden center is in the works.
Ray and Elsie's son, George, is successfully running the family business. Early Bird Farm has developed into retail greenhouses and a roadside market. Early Bird Farm opens in mid-April when the greenhouses are overflowing with a wide variety of annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, vegetables and herbs. The vast majority of these plants are grown from seed or propagated from cuttings. These cuttings come from the most respected growers from around the world, and are top quality disease free plants.
The goal is to provide new and unusual varieties that will set your garden apart from the rest. Feel free to browse their selection, meet the crew and let them help you get your garden ready for the new season. Plans are currently in the works for more growing and shopping space to provide customers the ultimate gardening experience.

About Us
We're a small organic (non-certified) farm growing vegetables and fruit as well as raising lamb. We do rotational grazing for the flock and use only organic inputs. We live off-grid -- wind and solar -- and heat our straw bale house with wood. We manage our 45-acre farm to be as sustainable as possible. We use Leona Meats, a certified organic butcher, and our artisanal lamb is finished with our own organic fruits and vegetables to give it a tender, savory flavor.

About Us
IT'S A GLUTEN-FREE BOY MEETS GIRL KIND OF STORY.
Emmy's Organics is a love story that could rival any modern day rom-com. Gluten-free boy (Ian) meets girl (Samantha), and while this generation might look to Netflix to pass the time, Ian and Samantha spent their weekends meeting in Ian's mom's kitchen, baking treats well into the late hours of the night. As a result, they created an incredibly decadent cookie out of the best ingredients the local grocery store could stock. Knowing they had something special on their hands, Ian and Samantha wrapped up a few batches and headed to a nearby farmers market. The cookies sold out, and now Ian, Samantha, and the team at Emmy's spend their days sending cookies all over the world. They named their company Emmy's, as a nod to Ian's mom who still lets them monopolize her kitchen in exchange for a tray of treats.
Emmy’s is a home grown, family-oriented company, committed to spreading the good word about healthy snacking as well as social and environmental responsibility. Emmy’s B Corp Certification also shows the company’s strong passion for using business as a force for good. Examples of this can be seen in the organic and non-GMO ingredients Emmy’s sources, the way they give back to their community and other causes and the way they treat all people involved with their business. Emmy’s products are made in a wind and solar powered building and much attention is placed on reducing their carbon footprint.
Sit back and kick your feet up. Emmy's meant to be enjoyed.Product is Organic Coconut Cookies in 6 flavors:

Founded in 2013 by husband and wife team Carly & Dave Dougherty, Food and Ferments is focused on making locally-sourced, premium quality fermented food and drinks. We are inspired by the art, history and health benefits of fermentation, and enjoy making a full line of naturally fermented products including sauerkrauts, pickles, kimchi, kombucha and tonics like Beet Kvass and Fire Cider. After starting Food and Ferments in Philadelphia, they relocated their home and business to central New York in 2014 to be closer to family and be able to source their produce from NYS farmers. In 2014 they established a commercial kitchen on their family's organic dairy farm in Truxton, NY and have since expanded to a second production location in Cortland, NY. Our products can be found at Trinity Valley, Deidrick's Farm Market, the Local Food Market Cortland/Tully, GreenStar Natural Foods Market Ithaca, Natur-Tyme Syracuse, Green Planet, and the Syracuse Cooperative Market.

About Us
In 2017, our family decided to grow their own food and flowers, poultry and eggs by stewarding land that historically belonged to the Native American Cayuga Nation. In reflecting and honoring the life, work, and farming principles of our ancestors we created a Black-owned, family-operated farm in upstate New York to serve our local community. Our greens and vegetables are organically grown, and sold both at the local Ithaca Farmers Market and via our Community Supported Agriculture Share.

Holgate Garlic Farm grows organic gourmet garlic, using sustainable growing practices. Utilizing these methods is better for us, the land, the flavor of our garlic, and for their customers.
Gourmet garlic has a much wider range of flavor than supermarket garlic. You will not believe the difference in taste! While their garlic isn’t Certified Organic, they do follow sustainable growing principles; never using synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, after harvesting, the bulbs are never dipped in bleach, sprayed, or treated with fungicides to prevent sprouting, as is common with store-bought garlic.
Last fall they planted nearly 2700 cloves. The majority is German White. They wanted to try some new varieties as well, including Georgian Crystal, Chesnok Red, Porcelain-type “Music”, Vietnamese Red, and German Red. There will be a very limited supply available of the new varieties, as they will want to save as much as possible for planting this fall. This will enable them to offer a bigger supply with the 2019 harvest.

About Us
Just a Few Acres is a 45 acre seventh generation family farm in Lansing, in operation since 1804. We are a diversified livestock farm, providing high quality, healthy meats directly to consumers in our community. All our livestock is grown using a grass-based diet, and we focus on a low-stress life for our animals. We operate our farm using sustainable practices, building healthier soil every year through innovative grazing methods. We believe a small family farm can still be a viable business in today’s “bigger is better” world, and that small farms supplying locally grown food to their communities can create a more resilient, healthy, and meaningful agricultural system.

About Us
"Origins:
Knapp Farm was founded in 1796 by Jacob Lowman. Jacob Lowman, originally from Middletown, PA, purchased the land that would become his farm from Captain John Spaulding, a revolutionary war soldier and veteran of the Battle of Newtown. Fully half of the land that the farm sits on has been designated as part of the Battle of Newtown battlefield. Jacob Lowman first built himself a log cabin and began clearing the land for farming. Then, in 1819, he built a larger home in the Federal style. The Knapp family still occupies this home today. Jacob had seven children and built homes for several of them near his original homestead. These houses still stand today. His son Edward opened the Lowman Rye Whisky distillery and produced whiskey from rye grown on the farm. The distillery operated until it was shut down by Prohibition. Jacob's descendants continued farming the land with a variety of crops and animals. Today, the 8th generation of Jacob's family is actively involved in all aspects of the farm.
The Farm Today:
Knapp Farm is primarily a fruit farm today. The farm's main crop is blueberries. In 1985, Ellen and Jason Knapp, the current operators of the farm, enlisted the aid of Cornell University to begin a small commercial blueberry planting. Marvin Pritts of Cornell's Horticultural Sciences Department advised the Knapps on site selection, varietal selection, and sound cultural practices. Today, this planting is at full production and benefits from integrated pest management techniques and trickle-drip irrigation. Varieties in this planting include Blue Crop, Blue Ray, Northland, and Patriot."

About Us
Mehrabyan Nursery is on a mission to bring delicious fruit trees to every home, orchard and farm. Coming from Armenia, our sunny country with a rich variety of bright, delicious and fragrant fruits, we wanted to share our love for growing fruit trees in our local community in Ithaca and beyond.
Whether it's your first time buying a fruit tree or your tenth, we bring you carefully sourced, quality apples trees at affordable prices to make your fruit tree buying experience a joyful one.
Mehrabyan Nursery was created by Surik Mehrabyan. After a career in physics research at Cornell University, Surik decided to start his own orchard and planted 80 fruit trees in his backyard in Ithaca, NY, much like in his home village in Armenia.

Organic veggies available at the Ithaca Farmers Market or through our CSA.
nook & cranny farm is a small scale, intensively managed vegetable farm in the town of Caroline serving the Brooktondale and ellis hollow communities since 2008. Offering diverse, bountiful, and high quality vegetable csa from mid-April through December, with separate spring, summer and fall shares. CSA sizes are; large and small shares as well as offer a personal-sized share.
They have spent several years experimenting and optimized growing in hoop houses and low tunnels. High quality greens, brassicas and roots are freshly harvested in both early spring and late fall. During the summer hoop houses are used to grow heat-loving tomatoes, peppers and eggplant as well as early carrots, zucchini and beans. Several staple vegetables (potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots, broccoli, kale, lettuce) are included in the shares most weeks during the growing season. Crops and animals are tended by a dedicated, idealistic and hard-working crew. They are committed to producing great food to feed they're comrades!
Additionally, nook & cranny strives to be sustainable; constantly improve our soil through rotations, cover cropping, heavy mulching, and addition of organically-approved rock amendments and composted manure,. Farm work is accomplished mostly hand-powered, relying on two-wheeled BCS tractors for soil work, and thus maintain a low carbon footprint. during the 2017 season used 25 gallons of gas for all on-farm activities serving csa shares to over 70 families, in addition to attending 3 farmer's markets per week, and supplying weekly produce to brookton's market.

About Us
Back in 2008, after about 30 years of hosting Thanksgiving dinner for 30 or so friends and family, we decided it was time to raise our own fresh organic turkey for this special feast. We wanted to utilize more of our 160 acres, and in some small way, contribute to the growing movement for local, sustainable, organic food. Fortunately, raising our own heritage turkeys has profoundly increased the depth of our appreciation for all our food, especially that from animals.
We’re proud of the fact that we are now able to sustainably farm our own flock. They breed naturally – no artificial insemination necessary. The eggs are laid in the field and then hatched safely in an incubator. They grow slowly and safely, moving freely outside in 5 rotational pastures protected from predators, vigorously eating organic feed, grass and insects during the day and roosting undercover at night.
Our type of turkey farming differs significantly from large-scale commercial turkey production, where the non-heritage breed Broad (Large) Breasted Whites must be bred via artificial insemination. These birds, because of their extra large breasts, are unable to run and fly. Currently 99.9% of turkey meat consumed in the USA comes from Broad Breasted Whites farmed this way. Due to selective breeding, meat on these birds grows about two times faster than heritage breeds. This means they can be harvested sooner and sold more cheaply than heritage turkeys, especially heritage turkeys like ours that are fed pricey organic feed.
Due in large part to the low price advantage of non-heritage breed turkey farming, heritage breed turkeys were on the verge of extinction by the 1990s. By raising heritage breed turkeys we’re helping preserve the genetics of precious older domesticated breeds. “You have to eat a breed to save a breed,” as they say.
But of the many good reasons that motivate us to do the hard work required to successfully raise our turkeys we think the best reason is their superior flavor. Heritage breeds taste like a turkey should – juicy with deep rich superior flavor! Try one, or a few, and know you’ll be supporting local sustainable farming, heritage breed preservation, and the Slow Food movement.
-Barb Martin

About Us
Remembrance Farm is a 100-acre Biodynamic vegetable farm located in Trumansburg, NY, in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region. We specialize in growing salad greens and root vegetables for sale to local stores and restaurants, and to individual households through a cooperative Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program called the Full Plate Farm Collective. We also raise 100% grass-fed, certified organic cows and sheep and sell raw milk, dairy products, beef and lamb. Through fastidious attention to the details of production, Remembrance Farm has developed a reputation for consistency and high quality in the crops. From the beginning, we chose to specialize in a select few cash crops in order to have the time and attention to grow them well. The name, Remembrance Farm, serves as a constant reminder of the inner desires and aims that initially drew us to farming. Wishing to lead a life in which the outer conditions of life support and nurture the inner search for self-knowledge, we hope that the efforts of that search, as they are made real through the work on the farm, enliven the food we produce in a deeper way. Such food will, we hope, support both the physical and spiritual health of our customers as they too seek meaning in this life that we all share.

Products available1/2 or whole pastureraised lamb in the summer/fall, USDA frozen cuts avail year-round. Clun Forest breeding stock, fleeces, wool roving, and yarn. Delivery or on-farm pickup by appointment
In 1970, a grandmother, mother, and daughter purchased and moved to the old farm that was to become Rocky Top. They soon found that 50 acres was (in today's world) too large to be a lawn and too small to be a conventional farm. There was an old early 1800s farm house, a burned-to-the-ground barn, about 20 acres of tillable land, 7 acres of woodland, a barbed wire fenced pasture of about 5 acres, and the rest was very old pasture quickly returning to woodland.
In searching for its right use, this farm went through many stages. Adding horses, cows, chickens to the ranks. In 1995 they learned to spin and purchased the first two sheep. Quickly became hooked and bought more sheep the following year and have been adding to the flock ever since. They truely believe that sheep are a viable and practical way to keep small farms in use as farms and that at last Rocky Top has found its destiny.
In 1999, they started searching for a breed of sheep that would provide a high quality fleece, excellent registered breeding stock sales, and a good consistent market lamb. I found all of these qualities and more in Clun Forest sheep. These beautiful, intelligent, and gentle animals have captured the heart and will be the future of Rocky Top Farm.

Shelterbelt Farm is located in the scenic rolling hills of Caroline, NY, in the Finger Lakes region just southeast of Ithaca. The farm is home to three generations of Modishers, and cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese, bees, fruit trees, berries, and vegetables.
We farm because we are passionate about regenerating the health of community and our land, by building soil and plant diversity, providing a low-stress, happy life for our animals, and producing nourishing pasture-raised meats. About Us
Living just four miles south of the Ithaca Commons, Steve and his family planted an orchard of cider apples. This land, being so close to Downtown Ithaca, is under intense development pressure. In 2014 Steve helped the previous landowner to protect his land with a Conservation Easement, which will protect the land from subdivision and development in perpetuity. The land adjoins 182 acres of Finger Lakes Land Trust and Cornell Preserves and is located on the Finger Lakes Trail.
Steve Selin, the cidermaker, apple picker, and community orchardist has been bottling his own cider since 2002. Collaborating with neighbors to help maintain and reclaim wild trees and forgotten orchards for use in cider making has been a labor of love for years. The apples from these trees, plus bittersweet and heirloom apples from their own and other small orchards, enable us to give every bottle of cider the solid foundation needed for world-class ciders.
Our orchard is planted on a peaceful hilltop as part of a harmonious ecosystem that relies on diversity and fertility as its foundation. South Hill Cider produces ciders with individuality, quality, and elegance reflecting the terroir of our beautiful Finger Lakes region. In 2019, Steve and his team completed construction on a new tasting room and cider facility on Sandbank Road adjasent to the orchard and overlooking beautiful Inlet Valley and West Hill. The tasting room is open year round Thursday-Monday and features live music and light local fair. See our facebook page for music and events

About Us
Stick and Stone Farm started on a few acres of rented land in Newfield, NY. It is now 72 acres of land in the Town of Ulysses, between Jacksonville and Ithaca on route 96. We raise 35 acres of certified organic vegetables, fruits and sometimes free range chickens for eggs. We attend the Ithaca Farmers' Market on Saturdays year-round and Sundays July-November. We wholesale to Ithaca area restaurants and grocery stores. Deliveries are every Monday and Thursday throughout the season. We also sell through two local distributors: Regional Access and Fingerlakes Family Farms. We are founding members of the Full Plate Farm Collective, a three farm CSA that provides fruits and vegetables to more than 500 families in Ithaca, Danby, and Trumansburg. We have been offering Growing Season Shares since 2005 and Winter Shares since 2009. For more info on Full Plate's CSA, contact info[at]fullplatefarms.com. We plan to launch a fall semester CSA share focusing on Asian vegetables late August of 2018!
